I used to have itching in my hair as a result of dandruff present in it. My dad also has the same condition as well as my mum so it is imperatively that one of their children also have the condition. Whenever rain falls or water mistakenly touches my head, it itches me very well and I was advised by a friend who is a medical practitioner to stop scratching it when it itches. She also said that the more I scratch, the more it itches so I usually refrain from scratching it but at times I can’t help but scratch it.

I had a meeting with a pastor client of mine one day and there was a small drizzle of rain and some fell on my head hence my itching started. I initially refrained from scratching it but it got worse at a point that I had no option than to scratch. The more I scratch, the more intense the itching became. The pastor — client noticed at first and didn’t utter a word but he noticed and instead of asking what the problem was, he decided to play a fast one on me and told me, “hope you know that hair you are scratching is not normal?” I was taken aback but decided not to speak and allow him make a fool of himself. He said he it was people from my mother side that are trying to make me mad hence the scratching. He said I need to do some spiritual cleansing to stop the head scratching. I just mumbled that I will check on him later for the spiritual cleansing. I finished up with what I was doing and left him never to come back again.

Many a people especially Africans are suffering from religious ignorance and it shows in the way we deal with our so-called Men of God. They are true Men of God and it shows in the way they deal with us their sheep but many a pastor and or clerics are fraud and they prey on the ignorance of the average man to fleece them of their hard earnings and feel no remorse about it. People living in Lagos for example have a short life span stemming from the hustle and bustle of the city. A place where you spend 3 hours in traffic for a journey that shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes and gets home tired, worn out and need at least 8 hours of sleep but you hardly get 3 hours before you get up the next day again. There is no way you won’t develop health issues and most health issues just need a medical touch and not a spiritual one.

I have the female neighbour who have ovarian cancer which was detected early but instead of her seeking medical help, she decided to ask her pastor for help. The pastor who isn’t a registered medical practitioner didn’t refer her to the hospital but decided to keep her in the church premises for spiritual healing. The cancer wasn’t attended to until it became fatal and that is when they decided to take her to the hospital where she sadly gave up the ghost leaving behind two daughters and her mother. There is nothing stopping you from seeking spiritual help but first ascertain if the illness is a medical one and if and when the illness defy all medical odds then you can seek spiritual help as it may be a spiritual attack.

A man near my office was diagnosed with cancer early on and his pastor forbade him from seeking medical treatment stating that God will heal him which is possible but the situation took a turn for worse and the man himself died albeit untimely as he was full of life. God said in His word that faith without work is vain. What will God work with? God needs to work with something for your healing. Imagine someone without a known job asking God for blessing. What will God bless for you to be blessed? Someone without a wife or girlfriend asking God for a baby. Will God throw the baby from heaven?

Know that faith without work is nought and know peace. Shalom
